Pasteboard

A board of paper slips for the text you keep moving around. Paste anywhere on the page and it lands on the first empty slip. Nothing you paste here goes anywhere. Not even to us.

Paste anywhere

Copy something in another app, come back here, and paste with nothing selected. The text lands on the first empty slip as plain text; if the board is full it gets a new slip. Press Escape to step out of a slip first. On a phone, the "Paste from clipboard" button asks the browser for the clipboard instead, and if the browser says no, tap a slip and paste into it the ordinary way.

The bench

The tools work on whichever slip you clicked last. Trim takes the spaces off both ends of every line. Strip formatting turns tabs, non-breaking spaces and the invisible characters that web pages leave behind into ordinary spaces. Title Case keeps small words like "of" and "the" lowercase. Sort is aware of numbers, so 2 comes before 10. Every tool keeps the text it replaced, and Undo goes back twenty steps per slip.

Moving slips

Drag a slip by its grip to put it somewhere else on the board. With the grip focused, the arrow keys move it one place at a time. The order is kept along with the text.

This browser

Every slip is kept in this browser's storage and nowhere else. Close the tab and it is still here.

What stays here

Everything on this page is plain JavaScript in your browser. There is no server holding your slips, so there is no copy of them anywhere but in this browser's storage, and "Clear this device" removes that too. Export makes a JSON file on your computer; import reads one back. The only thing this page records is that a button was pressed, and which tool it was. Never the text.
